Bed Is an integral element of any housing, just as sleep is one of the main processes in a person's life. During sleep, the body gets the opportunity to rest and restore energy. Therefore, to ensure normal life of a person, he needs a comfortable healthy sleep. And these factors directly depend on the quality of the bed.

Types of beds
Depending on the parameter values, the following types are distinguished:
- One-Bedroom - 200 x 80 (100) cm.
- Halflit - 200 x 120 (140) cm.
- Double bed - 200 x 160 (180) cm.
- Swedish - 200 x 200 cm.
Advice! To choose the size corresponding to your personal parameters, you need to lie down on the bed and fold your arms over your chest so that one palm touches the second with your fingertips. The distance from the elbow to the edge of the mattress should in such case be at least ten centimeters in each direction.
No less important is the height of the berth. According to this indicator, three types are distinguished:
- Low - 30-20 cm.
- Medium - 40-60 cm.
- High - 70-90 cm.
This parameter should match your growth, as well as physiological characteristics. This will facilitate the lifting process. Typically, the most common are the average height of the bed. Picking up the height for yourself, you need to take into account the size of the base and the mattress installed on it. Sitting on the bed, a person should firmly stand with his feet on the floor, while the legs should be bent at 90 ° in the knees.
Attention! People who have joint problems should not buy too low a model.
Regardless of models, size and height, all beds consist of a base and mattress. In turn, the base is a strong stable construction, consisting of:
- supports for the rack bottom;
In addition, the structure may include other parts that increase its functionality and efficiency of use. The material for the substrate is metal or wood. Consider how to make wooden bed yourself.
What do you need for work?
Selecting material from wood, it is best to give preference to conifers - they have a lot of advantages. Such a design will last you much longer, besides it reduces the likelihood of damage to it by woodworm insects (termites, shashel, etc.).
In addition, the structure will be quite light, which will allow you to move it if necessary, and install it on upper floors of housing, without creating an additional load. It is important that the boards are flat and have as few defects as possible. This will shorten the processing time.
In the table below you will find the number of materials for making a standard bed of a lorry.
|Element||Number of boards||Size of wood|
In addition to wood, the following materials must be purchased:
- self-tapping screws 30, 50, 60 mm;
- grinding discs or paper;
- putty on wood;
- glue for wood.
It is also necessary to have a number of tools available:
- Measuring device-measuring tape;
- circular saw;
- adjustable measuring triangle;
- set of drills for wood;
- building pencil;
- belt sanding machine.
Advice! We recommend buying or renting a corner grinder (Bulgarian). This is a universal equipment, to which you need to choose the right wheels for cutting and polishing the tree.
Algorithm for making the base
The first step in assembling a bed is to make a frame. As already mentioned, four boards will be needed for it. They need to lay out a rectangle. To fasten the parts, self-tapping screws are used, which are screwed at an angle into the pre-drilled holes.
Advice! Very often, the edges need to be processed. To make them more accurate, you can use a manual plane, but you can use the EW (angular grinder).
Before you connect the parts, they are recommended to be greased with joinery glue. After the elements are pulled together, the surplus of the adhesive can be removed with a damp cloth. Next, we turn to coating. Best for this is acrylic lacquer on a water base.
- You can also apply acrylic paint. The peculiarity of these materials is that they are non-toxic, and thanks to the rapid evaporation of water they dry quickly, which speeds up the work.
- In a dried frame inserted boards that perform the role of the base, which will later be recruited grille and installed mattress.
- Two of them are fixed along the long sides of the base, one parallel to the previous one in the center.
- These parts are fixed in the same way as described in the previous paragraph.
- Initially, holes are created with special drills at a distance of 25 cm from each other.
- Then the joints are greased with glue.
- Supports are inserted in the place intended for them and screwed with screws.
Important! The distance from the top edge of the frame to the place where the base is fixed should be at least 10 cm, which will allow the mattress to be properly installed.
Make the legs
The standard bed has four legs. But to create a strengthened basis, it is best to increase their number to at least six. In our case a parallelepiped is used from a beam with a base of 10 x 10 cm and a length of 10.5 cm.
On a note! If desired, they can be given any form, but there is a chance of a decrease in stability.
The legs are attached to the boards, which act as the base. They are installed in the places where these elements are connected to the frame. Joints are greased with glue, and self-tapping screws are used as fasteners.
The next stage is the manufacture of a rack lattice. For this purpose, small boards of the same size are used, the length of which corresponds to the internal width of the frame. Before installing them, it is necessary to treat the surface with varnish. The first and last slats are fastened back to the wide side of the frame.
Important! Do not forget to glue the joints. The rest are set parallel to the previous ones at a distance of 10 cm from each other.
A bed can have one or more, or may not have at all. The back is rectangular, round or carved. It can be integrated as part of the frame or attached to it separately. It is important to pay attention to the second option.
To qualitatively fix the backrest, wooden chops are used. In the frame and in the bargain, holes are drilled at a distance of 10 cm, which are smeared with glue, after which a wooden connector is inserted into the lower element and the upper back is put on.
It is not difficult to make a bed on your own. The main thing is to choose the right materials, acquire the necessary set of tools and follow a clear algorithm of actions.
- note, that all materials must be of high quality and environmentally friendly. Just such are wood and acrylic paint and varnish.
